I miss you, Dad......
I remember homemade pizza my father made, cornmeal was the secret, IIRC. It was terrific.
The best pizza is made with love. :)
Chef Boy Ar Dee was a great way for kids to learn how to make pizza. Mine have it down to a science as adults now.....in fact no longer sliced or baked in a pizza pan... but they spread it out way thin on a cookie sheet splashing the pan with cornmeal.... and scissor cut in strips. Adding all types of toppings to suit their mood. Fun!
We had that once a week too. One of the few things my mother would make. We had a 7 day a week menu. lol
I know what you mean. Sometimes it’s the memories that come with a particular meal that make it so wonderful.
There’s a couple of dishes my mom used to make when I was little that were obviously ways to feed a big Catholic family on a very limited budget. One was a tasty macaroni dish with tomatoes, onion, and just a bit of bacon. We ate it and liked it then because we had to; I eat it and like it now to remember where I came from and to honor all the hard work and love my mother put into raising us kids.
When the wife is out of town me and the dogs make that pizza. We make it a pizza and popcorn guys movie night. The only way now they can catch popcorn is if I zing at them. They can catch 100mph popcorn. They, of course love meatlovers style pizza, no veggies.
