He won the election thanks in part to a bunch of dead-ender marginalized birthers and their phony non-issue distracting from the campaign in 2008.

Now it is also true that the Dem party infiltrated primaries to get McCain elected, and that the media annointed him many years before that (the "Maverick") and then the media tore him down while he dithered. They will try that same trick this time, nothing to do with this thread or the birther issue.

The reality is now that the nation has been partly taken back through the campaigning and contributions (like mine) to successful republicans. That will continue and you are welcome to join. Whatever the propriety of opening a pdf with Photoshop, the image on the White House website is NOT a simple color scan of a paper document. You are right that they did mess around with it in some way - I think with that green background.

It's not hard at all to figure out that it is pointless to forge a document with wierd layers (e.g. part of a signature in one layer and part in another), but you can easily create the layers from a clean scan with some partial OCR processing.

Since it's so easy, maybe you could give us a demo of your "partial OCR processing." I'd especially like to see how this "partial OCR processing" renders signatures in different resolutions. Sort of like this:

The different size pixels that make up the two different signatures could not occur in a single scan of an original document. This is prima facie evidence of fraud.

Post processing fraud. The pixel sizes were changed by different black/white thresholds in different layers. There are quite a few tools that do this with many processing options for things like thresholding. Fraud is fraud, but we need to be clear on what type of fraud we are talking about.

Your theory is nice, but no one in Obama's position would ever make a fraudulent copy of a genuine document because he would then be at the mercy of several MSM outlets with the ability to publicize that the released document was fraudulent. In order to stem the tide of criticism, the WH would then be forced to say, "Oh, we were just playing a political trick on our enemies. Here's the real thing." I don't think it would fly. And besides, they're not that smart. This is a game they would have had to think of even before the election. And it's not just the birth certificate that has been hidden. The only undisputed piece of paper from Obama's pre-Chicago past is a registration record from an Indonesian elementary school; and it doesn't even have his name on it.

Also, Obama won the 2008 election because McCain^e is a schmuck, or worse. Obama's origins were not an issue at all, unfortunately.

Why did the President of the United States, with untold resources, years to prepare, and legions of well connected supporters, not to mention a material interest in keeping the Birther issue alive, release a document with minor but obvious file layering issues? The kind of flaws that experts would ignore but obsessed Internet fanatics would devour like catnip?
