We had a rooster wander into our yard a few years ago in an urban area - no clue where Speedy came from. A lot of fun, but yes, every morning you heard cockadoodledoo. Other than that, or if your whole yard was filled with them, what is the problem?

One problem with urban chicken yards is chicken sh*t - it smells! Draws flies, too.

I’m no farmer, so the question is how many could you keep without them being a pest?

The first rule of Cockfight Club is you do not talk about your cocks. The second rule of Cockfight Club is you do not talk about your cocks.

Would SWAT teams be descending on every backyard with a chicken coop?
Man, we had chickens (and roosters) growing up...in a city block. Nothing ever came of it. Free eggs, don’t remember if dad ever killed a chicken for meat.
We even had 2 pet ducks...

When I worked at a garden center you wouldn’t believe how many 30 pound bags of chicken manure I loaded into cars.
No difference. Actually, naturally occuring chicken poop doesn’t smell half as bad.

Ever live in or near an area with Mexican illegals? Chickens and roosters all over the place. Filthy Third World bastards just let the damn things run loose allover the place.

I’ve seen quite a few stories on corruption in the Albany area, which involves sending agricultural inspectors around to prevent small farmers from growing their own food.
I presume this mayor is probably being paid off by factory farms that don’t want any competition.

We had probably 6 hens and a rooster growing up... plus a brood of chicks every now and then. When my parents retired out of town they had 2 coops each with 8 hens and a rooster.
Unless you were in the pen...in the henhouse... the smell wasn’t bad.

I wouldn’t be at all surprised if your Momma took care of that while you kids were in school and Pop was at work.
