Thank you! Putting aside the ideological problems that many of these guys have, winning an election REQUIRES a candidate who can carry his home state. That knocks out Romney and Pawlenty right there. They simply aren’t viable candidates unless they can carry their own state. Bachmann is also stretching the limits of viability for the same reason.

Yep. Unfortunately, this rule applies to Pawlenty even more than the Mittster. With Mitt, I think he might put one home state (Michigan) into play, but not Massachusetts. Pawlenty, OTOH, starts out with no base outside of Minnesota.

For whatever reason, I got this sick feeling that the northeast/New England RINO establishment seeks to use Mitt Romney as nothing more than a place holder for the Bush family. And its too bad, because like George W. Bush, I genuinely like the guy and think he might make some contribution on a cabinet level position like Secretary of Commerce. But keep him as far away from health care (and the presidency) as possible. He just doesn't get it here any more than George W. Bush got it on secure borders.
