NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Nearly two dozen police officers were called out to Wave Country on Monday afternoon and were forced to shut the water park down two hours early.
The intense heat brought out thousands of people to the park's opening day.
Metro Parks director Tommy Lynch said Wave Country was nowhere near capacity, but there were plenty of problems that caused the park to close early.
Metro Police were called out to Wave Country around 1 p.m. because the crowd outside the gates and inside the park was acting up.
The decision was made to close the gates, and eventually the entire park. That's because several people were not taking directions from staff and police.
There were several fights inside. Police said one of the biggest problems was people jumping the fence to get into the park, creating chaos inside the park.
Wave Country will re-open on it's regular schedule on June 3.

Luckily, the “Splashing Safari” waterpark in southern Indiana is far enough from Louisville to avoid most of these issues. Of course, I have to tell my kids not to play with all the hair extensions that wash up in the wave pool.

The city of Nashville took over Wave Country didn’t they? I wonder if these problems also happen at the Nashville Shores Waterpark?
When elite liberals hand out passes for this kind of behavior -or just refuse to allow anyone to discuss it without being called a 'racist' - they are basically saying blacks are uncivilized animals who can't be expected to act like adults.
That's more racists than any conservative calling for reality checks on out of control actions. Another park closes down to protect the feelings of guilty white liberal elites. That's wrong.
Or another stadium can't get fans - rich liberals place stadiums in bad neighborhoods because they're 'oh so enlightened'. Then fans quit going to games and no one talks about the real problem. It's NOT racists to expect all racial groups to follow the law.
It is racist for liberals to assume blacks don't have the wit to act decently.
When I was young blacks had about the same marriage rate as whites. Under horrible circumstances black fathers worked jobs and supported their families. This kind of criminal behavior ( including what happened in Miami this weekend) just did NOT happen.
Black poverty pimps set the stage for 'anything goes and everything is whiteys fault". It can be reversed. If not these criminals will join up with radical Muslims and expressed their tantrums in a more violent way.
A discussion of race is needed. One that includes conservatives ideas.
In Atlanta, Six Flags became known as Six Thugs about 5 years ago and it typically devolves into ghettofest with fake gangbangers and hoochies by the time July 4th rolls around. Tough to say what goes up first, the metal detectors and pat downs at the entry gates or the Closed Down sign.
I’d say less than 5 years if they don’t get a handle on it.
I watched them kill off a new fancy mall in downtown Memphis (Peabody Place) in less than 10 years. The new state-of-the-art movie theatre went out a few years before that.
Got to be thug city at the mall and it died.
They put the new minor league baseball stadium downtown a few years back and I never went to another game. They moved the basketball stadium from midtown to downtown years ago and I never went again.
I am talking about Memphis, they keep moving everything downtown and I just won’t go. They is a reason many people live in the suburbs and it ain’t cause they want to go downtown.

As long as there is a Black Congressional Caucus these things will continue unabated. The I’m owed mentality begins with many of the black members of Congress and cascades down to the gang-bangers.
Two major shopping malls in Louisiana were forced to close because of black teenagers loitering in them in such numbers that it was impossible for shoppers to feel safe moving from one store to another. One was in Shreveport and the other was in Marrero.
My wife and I went to the only shopping mall in Monroe one Saturday and experienced the same thing. We have never gone back at night.
With the hoard of teens, shop lifting is rampant because several will enter a store, one or two will distract the clerks while the rest take what they want and walk out.
I would bet that the park eventually closes. And I don’t think it is racial in all cases, a lot of the flash mobs are equal opportunity crime organizations!

I don’t know where that would be, and remember , their money is green and they will spend it.
These people do not just build a park, they look at the neighborhood, they study the dynamics of how much money they will make at the location, they go where the money is to be made.
Everyone in America today is mobile, pople do not mind traveling to get to amusement parks.
In the old days you paid by the ride. Today you pay a high price at the gate and ride the rest of the day.That is a part of the problem. People pay by the day and they don’t want to wait in a line they want that ride.So they start jumping the line. Pay by the ride would break a lot of that up, but of course they would have to hire more people to sell the tickets.
In what way? Do you mean that if more people had jobs, they wouldn't be at the water park? It was a holiday weekend. Or that if there were more jobs, people would wait patiently in line? My family didn't change its behavior when my husband was unemployed.
