NECN is doing a stellar job of tracking two or three "historic" tornado storms.
A tornado hit Springfield MA. Reportedly started in Westfield and moved to W. Spfld, Springfield, East Longmeadow. Reported tornado hit in in Wilburham and Munson MA.
No severe injuries reported yet.
I hope those twisters find their way across the border quick, or else they will find a way to tax them.
My sister is in East Longmeadow. I have a son in Pittsfield. I hope they're OK. Thanks for the tracking info. I didn't know where to look.
I'm in southern NH and we ended up in a small band with the storm above and below us as it went east.
I also have a son wilderness camping in the Adirondacks and he has a tornado warning out there, too.
I used to live in downtown Springfield. This tornado came across the Memorial Bridge and did damage around the Civic Center, Chestnut St and the Quadrangle.
Unreal .. I’m orginally from WMass .. just saw the tornado report for Springfield, MA and my old hometown of Agawam .. I used to work and shop in Springfield. Never have known of any such violent weather there. Lord, You are speaking to us .. have mercy on us.
Tornado touches down in downtown Spfld (video)
That video was incredible. I used to live just up the hill on Chestnut St. Looks like my old neighborhood took some damage.
If you are in Milford, you should be down in the basement right now. It’s heading stread for downtown.
There is a terrific Dr. Suess sculpture garden and those museums by the Quad. I hope they weren’t damaged.
p.s. Downtown Springfield isn’t what you’d call residential.
Having seen tornado coverage in Alabama over the years, these Boston Mets have no clue what they are talking about. News anchors are putting up photos and video clips being sent in from viewers and asking the mets if this is a tornado, funnel cloud, etc. You get the deer in the headlights look from them as they stutter and stammer as they try to fill up the airtime with drama... "well it sure looks like one but I can't be sure."
Prayers for anyone up that way and east. Be safe!
I know ! Amazing, that it formed right over the Connecticut River.
I crossed that bridge every day in summer when I was in school and college, working by the Courthouse for lawyers,
and crossed it every school day, driving to Bay Path.

I lived at 122 Chestnut in the late ‘80s. Right by Mattoon. They were trying to gentrify the area at the time. It was a beautiful building with terrific amenities at the time. Expensive for Springfield, but a three minute walk to the museums.
