Somehow, I don’t think that putting Ms. Palin on the same level as President Lincoln is the sort of comparison that Ms. Palin would seriously object to other than, perhaps, to say that she really hasn’t quite earned such a high and distinguished honor yet.

Arguably, Palin's resume is stronger than Lincoln's was. At the time he ran, he had no executive experience. He had served one term in the House some years before but had declined to run again, believing he'd lose because he had opposed the Mexican War. And he had two failed Senate bids behind him.
