Can anyone tell me the computer code to create a 'bid' button on an auction website? I don't want to bother with Ebay and do this myself and not let Ebay cheat me out of a profit.
I get it. funny. 42. Am reading now.
Not overnight of course, but in time, hopefully on my terms.

"High-level" sellers? Like maybe the nephews of the recently-deceased Energy Minister of Nigeria? Who first contacted you a few weeks ago by e-mail? And now you want to learn how to scam the auction site and deprive them of the commission to which they are entitled?
Good luck with that!
Regards,
not true. It’s unlikely that his auction site would be successful, but he certainly could build a joomla site with auction modules which would do what he wanted - with paypal integration and a whole bunch of bells and whistles.
and you could just do a search for “ebay clone script”

there’s one.
Our GOP central commitee used BFpro to auction shotguns for fundraisers. BFPro - the upgraded version - still has limitations that need work.
You could go to an eBay auction and get the source code on the item page. If you are decent at HTML it should be a snap to find the right code and replicate it to the site you are building. Firefox makes it easy by using View>>Page Source...or highlight the desired area and right click. Then choose “View Selection Source” from the context menu.
LOL.... then you will know also that it also depends on whether or not you know how important it is to always know where your towel is!
You apparently have never actually run such a site. It is simply not practical to operate an auction site with only 1 person. It has to be constantly monitored 24/7 for hackers. A sales site is also vulnerable to hackers, but at least you are not under the pressure of keeping the auction going in real time. There are legal requirements here to be concerned about and not just technical ones. The technical ones are relatively minor, but the legal ones are huge.
I’m not arguing that ebay could be a one person company.
I’m really just saying that there are a lot of auction scripts that can be installed.
My initial argument was that an auction site was much more than pasting code to create a button.
The likelihood that after he puts up his auction site, no one cares, is the largest, I would think, not that he’d be immediately hacked.
