Human baises, jealousies, and desires got in the way of science.
Its the same with Louis Leakey's theories about early man in the new world. I'm not sure I agree with them but he certainly didn't deserve the treatment he got.

I would have been kind of hard for the Neanderthals to wander over there considering almost all of the British Isles were under ice.
