We found two polling organizations that have produced periodic “knowledge” surveys differentiated by the respondent’s frequent news sources. One is the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press, and the other is worldpublicopinion.org, a project managed by the Program on International Policy Attitudes at the University of Maryland.

Let’s start with Pew’s findings.

Pew periodically studies media usage and public knowledge. They ask whether a respondent is a “regular” reader, viewer or listener of major print, television, radio and Internet news sources, and they ask a series of basic factual questions about news and public affairs to gauge how well-informed the respondent is.

After conferring with Pew researchers, we found three surveys since 2007 that shed some light on how informed Fox viewers are compared to consumers of other media.

Why even give a b-grade comedian some sort of political analyst status? His dumb concert/show last year before the election was an abysmal failure as seen by the election results.

His Amos and Andy impression on Herman Cain would have gotten him fired if he was a Republican doing it to a Dem.

“...epic interview with Chris Wallace on Sunday Jon Stewart...”

####

Epic interview? For this talentless clown?

Thanks for the solid confirmation that I am missing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING by abstaining from TV.

Fox viewers are not misinformed, but rather doubleplusungoodthinkers according to the Democrats. Some even question whether we should have allowed Eurasia drag us into a war with Eastasia.

Seriously, that interview was a waste of time. Even the allegedly funny bits fell flat. One small snarky comment about the safety of the water at Fox might have been funny, but Stewart dragged it on like a poorly written SNL skit.

Jon Stewart lived with Weiner during the cross dressing days.

Jon Lebowitz is an intellectual fraud.

Death to Smoochie.

Why anybody cares what this leftist runt “comedian” thinks is beyond me. The fact that stoned college kids and basement-dwelling failures worship him should be enough evidence to disqualify his opinion on anything.

another smackdown of Lebowitz, Weiner’s roomie

TV funnyman (I love that phrase) Jon Stewart is back in the news again, as he so frequently seems to be. For reasons I don’t fully understand, Chris Wallace thought it would be a good idea to invite the host of Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” on his program, “Fox News Sunday,” and Stewart agreed to come on. Of course, Stewart showed his gratitude by telling Wallace that he was “insane” and saying that FNC is disproportionately responsible for poisoning the discourse in this country.

Stewart called Fox News a “relentless agenda-driven 24 hour news opinion propaganda delivery system” — that sounds about right. But then he added this:

“Here’s the difference between you and I. I’m a comedian first. My comedy is informed by an ideological background, there’s no question about that. But the thing that you will never understand...is that Hollywood, yeah, they’re liberal, but that’s not their primary motivating force. I’m not an activist. I am a comedian.”

...

But outside of “The Daily Show,” in interviews like the one he gave to Chris Wallace and even his famous 2004 confrontation that may or may not have killed CNN’s “Crossfire” I find that Stewart (and it pains me to say this, as such a fan) can come across as kind of lame, his “media criticism” beyond trite. In interviews, his complaints against the media tend to be an unsophisticated “pox on all of your houses.” I thought his largely pointless D.C. mall rally in late October repeated the mistake he makes in these interviews — trying to argue that our discourse is too loud while ignoring the real point that he hammers home on “The Daily Show,” that our politics is irrational.
