Years ago we were attacked in a road rage incident. We had a baby in the car, and this guy (who was mad at us I think for traveling too slowly) sped up, pulled in front of us, and backed into us, stopping and screeching his brakes, all at high speed.

He did it several times. This was on a major thoroughfare with a lot of witnesses. We did nothing to make him that mad. I’ll never forget it.

IMHO, this guy is probably not with us today. People that get that angry and are that reckless on the road end up out of the gene pool. I just hope he didn’t take anyone else with him.

I had something similar occur out on a country road when I encountered a truck full of yoots.

I got a CHL within the month.

You are probably right in that the guy is no longer around...

That seems to be the way it works... Similar incident with final outcome: Years ago, I would drive to my job up in Nashville (about 45 miles one way) and on Wednesdays after work would go to church on the way home. This meant going south on a surface street as opposed to traveling south on I-65. Every Wednesday I would encounter this road rager driving a Ford with the licence plate "FOTO"... It didn't matter who was in front of him, they weren't going fast enough. He hacked me off the first couple of times, but then it got to be an amusement on the way to church on Wednesdays. I would just stay on the speed limit and let him rant back there behind me... I mean there wasn't a lot I could do to go faster anyway - it was afternoon rush hour and traffic was very heavy. And so it went, every Wednesday... He would work his way around me and flip me off, then start on the next person in front of him with the same antics. Now this is not just your normal "cussing out loud and flipping them off" kind of guy. He sticks his head out the window and hurls every possible insult that he can think of at you, and gives you the old one finger salute at the same time. I was at no point ever really threatened by him, because I knew what equipment I had in the car and what I am capable of doing with said equipment.

That was not the case one afternoon when he went after a lady on her way home from work... She got scared and started driving faster, but could not get out of his way. He just kept on her back bumper, screaming at her, shaking his fist at her, and honking the horn... She finally slowed her car and pulled her car over to the shoulder hoping he would go around - he was so steamed at this point that he pulled in behind her and continued his nastiness. She was now even more scared and took off as fast as she could. He did the same. She suddenly had to slam on her brakes due to traffic and he had to swerve around her to the right to keep from hitting her - while he screamed at her with his head out the window. Well guess what... He should have been looking where he was going... His car left the road, struck (at speed) an immovable object, and he was decapitated by his seat belt. To add to the already terrifying incident that the poor lady went through, his airborne head struck the right side of her car leaving a bloody mess. Now this is a true story... When I heard about the incident, I just thought to myself "Yes, he finally got taken off of the road..." To add insult to injury, the D.A. prosecuted the lady. Thank goodness he was unsuccessful.

Moral to the story: If you don't keep your head while behind the wheel, you might just lose your head.

Some years ago I had a moron start flashing his headlights at me at a stoplight. After I made sure there wasn’t anything wrong with my vehicle I assumed he must have taken issue with some of my conservative bumperstickers. Moron continued to follow me down the road flashing his lights until he summoned up the courage to pull along side me, lean over the (empty) passenger seat and flip me off.

I signaled a lane change and started to move over right into him. He decided he didn’t want to play bumper cars with my SUV and backed off. He continued to follow me (75-100 yards back) until I turned off, still flashing his lights.
