The depth of the quake must have some bearing on the absence of a tsunami. At a quake depth of 38 miles maybe the sea bed did not shift at all.

May have just been a lateral displacement....like is predominant along the San Andreas here in California.

The depth of the quake must have some bearing on the absence of a tsunami. At a quake depth of 38 miles maybe the sea bed did not shift at all. That is a correct observation. The tsunami warning was sent as a precaution and once the depth was determined lent credence to it not being created in the first place.
