Have you seen ‘The Third Miracle’ starring Ed Harris? I think you might like it.

A movie that vanished as quickly as it appeared, it is practically impossible to find this movie today. Kristy McNichol and Paul Winfied starred. I recommend it.

From IMDB:
"Deprogramming a dog who kills Blacks is the ultimate challenge for an unorthodox African-American trainer.

"When a young Hollywood actress finds the injured stray, she nurses it back to health, not knowing it's a "White Dog" trained by a racist to attack only Blacks.

" Julie's appalled when the otherwise gentle, white German Shepherd breaks out, then returns from his nighttime foray dotted with human blood. Julie desperately races from trainer to trainer, advised to kill her pet, until the top Hollywood canine expert refers her to his former protégé"

I liked Miracle Mile. Pretty scary and unnerving.

‘Gardens of Stone’ is a tear-jerker, but extremely well done.

Lost in America is a classic. I love the scene where Albert Brooks is trying to convince the casino owner to give back the money Julie Haggerty lost gambling.

Real LIfe is another great Albert Brooks movie.

“The Mountain” co-starred Robert (RJ) Waggoner. Good movie.

A play on words, I enjoyed “Spencer’s Mountain” starring Henry Fonda, Maureen O’Hara and James MacArthur. It was the basis for TV’s “The Waltons”.

Try “The Stunt Man” with Peter O’Toole released in 1980.

Good movie.

‘The Long Gray Line’ - one of the best and most patriotic military movies ever made.

This isn’t my type of movie at all, but I recently saw “500 Days of Summer” and think it’s one of the best movies I’ve ever seen.

It received a well-deserved standing ovation at Sundance.

Some great stuff on this excellent list, IMO - ‘Sergeant York’ is not to be missed. Also ‘Rear Window,’ as is everything by Hitchcock; ‘Some Like It Hot’ is one of the best comedies ever made, and ‘Lost Horizon’ and ‘Shane’ are both on any list of the Great Films.

The true story of a Greek mother in the 1949 Greek Civil War. What will you do to save your children?

Bring a box of tissues.

No Blade of Grass.

A virus is wiping out the worlds grasses. Interesting British apocalyptic take on TEOTWAWKI. The book was better, but then it always is. :)

No, and I really like Ed Harris, although apparently according to some commenters on this thread he’s a commie lib :(

I really like British and Irish comedies and caper movies...not so much their serious stuff.

Just a short list of a few recent films not cited so far:

‘Best in Show’ - comedy take-off on dog shows.

‘Kung Pow’ and ‘Balls of Steel’ - two funny martial arts spoofs.

‘Finding Neverland’ - touching drama about the life of J. M. Barrie, who wrote Peter Pan.

‘Just Looking’ - fifties nostalgia piece.

‘The Professional’ ultra-violent thriller about a career hit man.

‘Dinner Rush’ - hard to characterize this one; a father of two sons, and the restaurant they run together is threatened with a (very) hostile takeover by mobsters.

‘I Served the King of England’ - amusing, but very strange, take on World War II in Eastern Europe.

All good stuff.

Yes, I’ve seen a variety of postings which comment on the often hare-brained political beliefs prevalent in Hollywood.

The thing is, if we stop seeing all films the actors in which have funky political beliefs, we’ll have to stop seeing movies all together.

At some point, we have to decide either to ignore the private lives of actors and actresses, directors, writers, and producers, or stop seeing films.
