>>I’m more inclined to go with the jury, however, than with the media’s hysterical coverage of the trial.<<

So by that stellar logic, you agree with the O.J. verdict?

circumstantial evidence is and should be enough to convict Casey. The how where and when is not necessary with ALL the overwhelming circumstantial evidence against her.

Nice posts on this subject. Prosecutors have incredible amounts of power. Usually exercised responsibly.

But prosecutors can go terribly awry and the jury is all that stands in the way. It is better for juries to make mistakes in some cases than to give so much power to a small group of prosecutors.

I lived in LA during the McMartin preschool case. The only sensible folks in that whole mess were the jurors. The prosecution deserved to have their teeth kicked in. Even though they lost the case, they still ruined the defendants’ lives. OTOH, at least the political ambitions of the prosecutor, which drove that case, were thwarted. It’s clumsy and sometimes grossly wrong, but imho, the jury system rocks.

My experience was different than yours. I was a civil litigator for a couple of decades. Generally, juries did a pretty good job on the cases I handled, win or lose. Since then, I had hoped to sit on a jury. But for some reason, criminal defense attorneys take one look at me and challenge. So I’ve never been able to be a juror.

The prosecution said it was a murder and the defense said it was an accident made to look like a murder with Casey’s horrible, molesting father helping her cover up the accident...but he had no reason to do such a thing and denied helping her cover up and accident by making it look like a murder.....therefore... having to decide between these two stories, it was no “reasonable doubt” whose story was correct. It was a homicide, either by negligence or malice......and it’s absurd to believe she drowned and her father helped cover it up........Plus...there were claims that Casey was suffering “denial” about being molested as a child....in facr...Baez argued that she became a pathological liar because she had to pretend that everything was ok after having her fathers “blank in her mouth”. Classy guy, that Baez! Where were his standards of “proof” before accusing George Anthony of a heinous act??? How could Baez know the truth....all he could do is believe a sociopath’s lies...and why wouldn’t she lie to avoid punishment and destroy the father who wouldn’t lie for her, like her mother was willing to do.

When it came down to it...after being “in denial” all those years and not telling a soul about her clear memories of oral sex with her father.....she sure remembered in a hurry and had no problem talking about it once she was on trial for murder and no one wonders if it wasn’t Baez who was pleasured by Casey.

Did you ever hit the nail on the head.

Absolutely no evidence that it was an accident but that is what the jury thought according to the alternate juror. BTW, how did he know since he didn’t sit on the jury to deliberate? Jury misconduct for discussing the trial before deliberations? I have more circumstantial evidence of that then they had of an accident.

“Oh come now, it is not the end of the world.”

yeah it’s only the murder of a little girl. no biggie. It’s not as if they acquitted al-Ghailani of 224 counts of murder. So yes there are even dumber juries.

"It remains a system that protects innocent people wrongly accused even if that means some guilty ones go free. "

No, sometimes the innocent are punished while the guilty go free.

I am convinced that many on FR need to join these 12. Anyone and I mean anyone who says she should have been set free is too damn stupid to vote, breed, and be taken seriously.

If he weren't sitting in a South American jail, I thought Casey and Joran Vandersloot (sp?) would have made a good couple, as long as they didn't reproduce.(/s) We all heard how horrible Aruba was for not prosecuting Joran, but they had even less evidence and no body. So Casey was able to lie long enough that the Florida elements were able to destroy most of the forensic evidence so she got off. Yay. There was way more then enough circumstantial evidence. She's guilty as sin. We have not heard the last of Casey Anthony, like oj and Joran she'll get herself into to trouble again, hopefully not hurting anyone else.

OJ jurors were never dumb

They refused as black folks to convict a black hero even though he had a thing for white women.

And watching Marcia Clark tonight on TV....she is still oblivious to that fact and to the politically correct foolishness of moving it downtown and putting prosecutorial C team woman and black prosecutor up against Pro Bowl OJ defense team

I dont get it though. It is her child, her dependent. Shouldnt she at least be charged with criminal neglect that led to the death of her child? Or something along those lines, im no lawyer..

The jurors are morons:

A nice, clean gotcha with the DNA and intact body absolves the jury from having to think too much and actually assess what really happened. It also makes them feel good because they didn’t have to make a tough decision. It was easier this way.
