IMO, everyone should have life insurance-SS benefits are for people when they retire.

I wonder how far that change alone would go towards making the SS system solvent far into the future.

My point is that we shouldn’t be using money intended for one purpose for something else. Seems it would behoove us to look at all the pieces that make up the current puzzle - no one piece alone is going to solve the problem but together may provide some satsfactory solutions. None should be exempt from examination as we look at alternatives to accomplish the desired outcome. I don’t think that trying to guess how long someone is going to live is necessarily the best option either. Certainly we should have choices about whether to even participate or go our own way and accept responsibility for own retirement without interference or mandates from the government.
