Ah, I remember bacon grease sandwiches via my great grandmother ... Circa late 1800’s. She also used to hand wash my brother’s jeans on a washboard in the sink!

She made Potato Soup lickity split with a potato and plain milk.

Baked a homemade cake or pie almost every day.

RIP

Its great to have such memories. My husband said one time his older sister got his hand caught in one of those ringer type washing machines. She didn't know how to turn it off so she just hit the reverse and rolled him out...We are lucky to survive childhood.

Todays kids are put in a plastic bubble. Must have helmet, shin guards etc to ride a bike/skateboard. And special seats in the car until they a certain height and weight....Today I don't know how I would do it taking a trip with 5 kids and 3 safety belts in the back.. There were no big SUV, just an old ford....I guess I would have to have put 2 in the trunk. We all survived without the government mandates and things were a lot cheaper.

Have a great weekend.....GG
