Have you ever faced down a gang? Have you ever been assaulted by a gang?

Keeping the answers to the past seven years for me the answers are (1) yes, a few times (2) no.

If I can go back to the race riots era, then I can add more, but the dynamics are different today.

How do you deal with three plus feral 13/14 year old 90 pounders again? Killing kick to the throat of one? Right?

You are so delusional. Like I said take a walk in those areas first. Your advice is stupid. (1) You couldn’t pull it off. (2) The results of trying a stupid stunt like that will not be good for anyone.

But then that’s typical of someone who’d consider Machiavelli good advice. While I am not certain of this, I’d bet $5 that WT Sherman either ignored or despised Machiavelli’s works.

No, yes.

In the scenario replaying in the malls of today, the victim is the 90 pounder or less going up against multiple, often larger, opponents. They seek out those they deem small and defenseless, easy prey for a quick beating. When surrounded, you will only avoid that beating by an overwhelming show of force -- a gun (not likely for a teen) or a devastating physical attack against one of them.

I’d bet $5 that WT Sherman either ignored or despised Machiavelli’s works.

He certainly carried them out very well. Many don't like that Machiavelli was a hard-core political realist and said things exactly as they were, giving examples of this wisdom used throughout the ages. He didn't work with ideology, fantasy, and pride or couch the reality in more pleasant terms. Regardless, people still use the ideas since they work. And for some reason, only the advice we see as brutal is known popularly. You don't hear anyone condemning Machiavelli in The Prince for advising against having flatterers, sycophants and yes-men around.

So what’s your advice then?

a serious question -- so, how would one handle such a case if:

a. One is say a 120 lb woman as in the story
b. a 200 lb fit guy conditioned not to hit girls?

Seriously? how? Just a flailing attack? Kick the leader and dare the others?
