Don’t look back, they are gaining on you

Who is gaining on whom? According to you, they’re all just brand marketing arms of Taiwan, Inc. anyway.

You have been proven wrong in your attempt to lump Apple in with Dell and HP on tablets, phones and personal computers. Instead of simply claiming the same falsehoods again and again, why don’t you try supporting your claim for once?

when you see things no one else can see, it doesn't necessarily make you a visionary. It might mean you're delusional.

That would make a great tagline, or a great demotivator from Despair.

Not at all. Apple is marginally better. Apple does more in house computer and touch pad R&D than do Dell and HP. But not that much more. All three are essentially marketers and servicers of hi tech items designed in Taiwan and made in China.

If you repeat it enough times, that makes it true!

Thanks. So it’s safe to say that the “PC junk” that BunnySlippers implied is made overseas is at least as much made in the US as Apple products.

That is to say, they all rely heavily on Chinese manufacturing, correct?

I showed you where it's way different, Apple designing the products and the manufacturing techniques, and even paying to get the manufacturers up to speed. It's even Apple's own SoC that's being put in the phones and tablets as opposed to an off-the-shelf Qualcomm like Dell and HP.

Your big problem is that Apple is the designer, not the Chinese. They make what Apple wants to Apple's specifications, using Apple-provided manufacturing techniques and tools.

Show me once where HP has the manufacturer do a major retool in order to produce the HP TouchPad. Oh, sure, they need new stencils and injection molds. But they pretty much do everything with their in-house equipment and expertise. Working with Apple, Foxconn and others had to buy over 1,000 new CNC machines in order to be able to manufacture Apple's unibody products to Apple's specifications.

The Chinese innovation has never been the technology. It's the business model that allows for highly efficient and flexible manufacturing at a low cost for multiple customers. None of the customers individually can leverage Guo's economy of scale. For example, to retain flexibility Guo employs an army of tool and die makers that would be too much of a burden for an individual company, but they're making things for dozens of companies so they can be kept busy.

True, Foxconn moved into things like designing final products to compete with their former customers, and to just have whole products available for a label to be slapped on them. But these products aren't particularly innovative, nor are they ever cutting-edge. They're just cheaper since Foxconn isn't charging another company the profit margin for the ever-lucrative parts business (Foxconn has been known to do final assembly at a loss just to get a lucrative parts contract).

Apple will never buy a major Foxconn-designed device. Even Apple's power adapters are custom designed in-house. Buying Foxconn's standard stuff is for the industry followers such as Dell and HP.

Time to put up or shut up.

did not say that.

I just said they used that and made a new version. like the model t has been improved on over the years. or the 8088 chip.

I have started to see the non-apple padds proliferating in the business environs.

Your hero Ives should set up his CNC machines in India for his next big Apple product. We’ll see how far this clown gets. Apple would last 15 minutes trying to make iPads in India because the laptop/cell phone/iPad/touchpad geniuses reside in Taiwan and they work in coordination with the ChiComs where manufacturing and assembly is done

I never said HP and Dell are innovators. I have said a few times that they are marketing arms for Taiwanese/Chinese computers and internet devices. Apple is more of an innovator but not by much. Don’t kid yourself. Tons of Taiwanese design and engineering goes into iPad, iPhone, Apple laptops. Yes Apple does its share but once again the Chinese are in charge. Apple is in charge of “THE SELL”

That might be what you meant, but what you said was that it was a "duplication." If I said that the new Mustang was a duplication of the Model T, or the i7 was a duplication of the 8088, it would sound pretty silly, wouldn't it?

None of that makes any sense whatsoever. We are all dumber for having read it, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Still you refuse to listen. Apple is in charge. That is what makes Apple different from Dell and HP. You have still given no evidence to back up your claims. Put up or shut up.

If Apple is so much in charge then they should setup shop in Burma or India where labor is cheaper. India has millions of hi-tech guys so why not India? Ives and other Apple engineering and design geniuses have it down so pat. Don’t need Taiwanese engineers>>>> Then go make Apple iPads and iPhones in India

But you know they never will because the Taiwanese do at least half on all ipad, iphone design not to mention Apple laptops

Did you know that with the first iPhone, even AT&T didn't get a look at it until the last minute? The most they had before then was bare bones circuits to confirm it operated correctly on the network. And that was back when Apple was using a standard chip instead of the new custom one. Apple designs, lets others see what little Apple wants them to according to need. Apple's biggest problem is that the Chinese leak Apple's proprietary designs to others (there have been arrests). The Chinese don't have a problem with Apple leaking any of their technology to others. That shows you where the design brains are.
