The investigation is complete in regards to a Shelby County Sheriff's Deputy who shot a family dog while responding to a burglary call.
That report says the deputy made the right decision to use a gun rather than a taser or pepper spray due to the dangerous threat.
The dog's family says they didn't even know the deputy had been cleared, until we contacted them today.
For the past two weeks, Renee Lewis says complete strangers have been reaching out to her family, after the death of their dog Daisy.
There's plenty of photos of the Labrador retriever that the family is holding onto, and they've even taken in a baby chocolate Labrador, but what happened to Daisy on June 18th is not something they can forget.

Ping!
Dear Lord, what was the dog trying to do, lick the deputy to death??
I suppose it is possible to make any breed of dog mean, but I have owned several Labs and they were all extremely friendly.
The only danger they posed was licking your face too hard.
Geez, those labs are sure viscious beasts./s
They’re ruthless to the average stick, relentless in their pursuit of tennis balls.
“The family says they want people to know, if you do have large pets, let your alarm company know so that they will pass on the information to first responders in situations like this.”
What would the cops do differently? Be prepared to shoot the dog sooner?
WAVE 3 asked why the deputy didnt use pepper spray or a taser.
Yes, there are options that he had available on his belt but, it
takes longer to retrieve those pieces of equipment, said Sheriff
Armstrong.
She has never lunged at anyone or bitten anyone, said Lewis.

Gee, there's a shocker. The general arrogance of many cops needs to be dialed down a notch or seventy.
Wow, she looks like a real threat to me.
/roll eyes
Cop should be fired or relegated to desk duty.
Civil suit should make the cop pay restitution plus damages for trauma, shock, and emotional suffering.
I had one Lab who chewed up every single thing in my yard and car port. She even chewed up aluminum cans which she found, I mean chewed them up to little pieces.
She had a magnificent set of teeth but was worthless as a guard dog. She never met a person who was not her best friend.
Interestingly none of the articles I read mentioned the family being prepared to sue. Hopefully (for the city’s sake) they don’t read FR.
Oh noes! Save me from her terrible BARKING.
LOL!!!

Does anybody remember the scene from the “The Patriot” where the British commander gratuitously shoots one of Benjamin Martin’s kids out in front of the burnt out house?
Maybe someone with better HTML skills could post a link to the clip.
IMHO...when the thugocracy starts shooting the pets at will...it’s one step away from the kids IMHO....
Don’t know what all the fuss is. The cop followed policies and procedures of the police department. (sarc off)
