Wow, lucky you! I’ve never been to the Lake District. I can’t get out of London generally (poor me, right?)
I’m crazy about black pudding. If it’s good, it’s great! I eat it all: potted shrimp, lamb with game chips, eccles cake, simnel cake, Lancaster hot pot, etc. The only thing I have trouble acquiring a taste for is suet puddings. I still taste the beef.
I once stabbed my brother in the arm with a fork over an Eccles cake. In my defense, it was the last one and they’re delicious.
One of my all time favourite treats is sticky toffee pudding.
That's the secret to Britain's food renaissance. They simply went back to what was good in their grandparents' day and insisted on fresh local ingredients.
By the way, you haven't lived till you've had Cumberland sausage with mashed potatoes and carmelised onions. Yum!
