I know a woman who became addicted as a result of a severely broken ankle. She participated in a methadone maintenance program for years - 10 or 15. Getting that dose was her top priority. After a hospital stay, her doctor told her the methadone was destroying her organs & she must stop. The drugs continue to beat her.

Here is the thing: If the bureaucrats at the gov’t subsidized methadone program had CUT just a minuscule amount of her dosage each day/week, she MIGHT be drug free today & in better health. In all those years they never attempted to help her with her addiction. They still haven't.

I'm gonna make a wild guess here: The amount of subsidy this “clinic” receives is based on the number of doses administered. Curing the “patient” would cut the subsidy. That's bad for business - can't do that.
