I was listening to Andrew on WREC Memphis Saturday afternoon, and he was saying it was his farewell weekend. He said tune in Sunday in the 2 o'clock hour for details. Well listening Sunday, it was a Rush weekend show. Does anyone know what happened to Andrew? He is a strong black conservative to those who do not know him, who was doing a Saturday and Sunday show in Memphis TN.
I was in the middle of my Air Force career (and away from the Mid-South), so I never heard Mark during his days on WMC. As I recall, his next stop was Washington, D.C. (WMAL?) before moving on to Dallas and WBAP.
BTW, another Memphis refugee (Hal Jay) is the morning anchor on WBAP; he was a DJ at WMC back in its country days and moved on to Dallas in the late 70s, spent a year at another station and then joined the staff at WBAP when it was a country powerhouse. He made the transition to news/talk and recently celebrated his 30th year at the station.
Hal is the highest-paid radio personality in the market and Mark runs a close second, and that doesn’t include his part-time gig filling in for Rush. I often wonder how much he and the “other Marks” (Belling and Steyn) get paid as substitute hosts.
This morning I caught maybe two minutes of the morning show on 98.9. Either Andrew Clarksenior was being interviewed or he is now one of three hosts. I got the impression he was one of the hosts.
Just visited their website, and Andrew is one of the three morning hosts on KIM-FM. Also looks like Ben Ferguson is hosting afternoon drive on the show. Never been much of a Ferguson fan; I think they’d be better off with Mike Fleming. The station is owned by Citadel, one reason they have Mark Levin, John Batchelor and other ABC hosts.
A little Ben Ferguson goes a long way. Even when I agree with him he’s hard to listen to. Lack of maturity and life experience are a problem.
And I agree with you on Mike Fleming. He’s inarticulate at times, but he’s fearless and almost always spot-on. I miss his show. I know others miss him, too.
Andrew Clarksenior is now in 98.9FM from 6:00AM - 9:00AM Mon. thru Fri.
Andrew is on 98.9 from 6 to 9 am.
Contrct glich for Andrew.
ANDREW IS NOW ON 6-9 AM on 98.9 FM! He’s not alone though, it’s still the same deal as the 600 morning show, with 2 men and a lady having discussions, the main difference I’ve noticed...they take calls! I experienced the same thing Sunday afternoon with hearing Rush and I was dumbfounded. 600 is messing up. They did make a good call getting rid of Ben, he’s shrill and obnoxious, and to me, doesn’t come across as genuine, just that he’s in it for money. And while I’m on Ben, he hasn’t any skills in just talking/presenting a case, he just depends on throwing out a topic, letting people call in, if he agrees he says “yep, thanks for the call”, if he disagrees you can hear it in his voice, he just wants to poke fun at them. I agree with him on most things, but I can’t stand listening to him. Hopefully he doesn’t pull 98.9 down.
Now, back to 600...all they have now though is Rush; Beck is depressing, Hannity is shrill and obnoxious to listen to most of the time, this Schnitt guy is a joke, and the Wall Street Journal show is just a one hour show that repeats for 3 hours. What a bad station they’ve become. It’s kind of like the choice between a local business/restaurant that provides better products/food/service, versus a big chain that may have better prices or is more well-known, but eventually you figure out they really suck. 600, you suck! I love listening to Laura Ingraham on 98.9 too!
well said.
I sent an email to andrew@600wrec.com and it bounced back.
That means they deleted his email account....
(I too want to find his new home )...
