SAN DIEGO (AP) — A San Diego County ranch supervisor has pleaded guilty to illegally killing a mountain lion.

The North County Times (http://bit.ly/qJYKYA) reports that Mario Arteaga pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor crime in June and agreed to pay a $1,000 fine. He could have faced up to a year in jail if convicted in a trial.

Authorities claimed that Arteaga illegally shot the animal in 2009 at a Fallbrook avocado ranch where he works. Arteaga claimed he shot the lion in self-defense but authorities said he shot the animal while it was treed by dogs.

Game warden **Chang said it was unlikely that a treed lion would descend with dogs prowling beneath it, and that if it did, the dogs would have given instant chase, driving the lion away from Arteaga.

"He said the mountain lion ran toward him, but I don't believe the story," Chang said. "A treed lion is not going anywhere, because it's safe. Usually, lion behavior is to stay up the tree until the dogs are gone. So I think that's when he went back and got the gun (a semi-automatic Ruger 10/22 rifle with a large scope) and shot it."**

Evil mojo in that gun! That particular gun has bad juju and must be punished!

I’d have kept the gun but preformed a public exorcism to show that the evil had been driven out.
