No candidate is going to be the PERFECT candidate for everybody. We have to pick the one who is closest to our views.
I do not know enough about Perry, but for me his social views are not my number one concern. My concerns are his fiscal and national security views. I could accept any candidate running with an R behind their name who has a CHANCE of winning the primary. (I say that because cut and run has no chance). Some may be better than others, but none are perfect, just better than others. Any are better than the king.

Schwarzenegger, Perry, Napolitano, Richardson urge “comprehensive” immigration reform

The four border governers (Arnold Schwarzenegger of California, Rick Perry of Texas, Janet Napolitano of Arizona, and Bill Richardson of New Mexico) have sent a letter House Speaker Dennis Hastert and Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist urging them to pass “comprehensive” immigration “reform”. While Perry says they aren’t endorsing either the House or the Senate bill, they are in fact endorsing the Senate’s version due to their use of the word “comprehensive”.

And, they’re also using a Democrat talking point: “Instead of holding dozens of field hearings that do little but stir the pot of discontent, we urge you to get back to work and pass legislation that puts the interest of taxpayers first and solves this crisis once and for all.”

Also - A quote from Perry — “President Fox’s vision for an open border is a vision I embrace, as long as we demonstrate the will to address the obstacles to it. An open border means poverty has given way to opportunity, and Mexico’s citizens do not feel compelled to cross the border to find that opportunity. It means we have addressed pollution concerns, made substantial progress in stopping the spread of disease, and rid our crossings of illicit drug smuggling activity.”

For some reason, the Perry supporters seem to forget that Rick Perry signed legislation granting In-State Tuition for public universities to Illegal Aliens.

Perry doesn’t see the need for a fence.

McCain wanted to build a fence with a gate. And leave the gate wide open.

Comprehensive reform is not necessarily amnesty.

Do you think Reagan was a lousy President because he DID grant amnesty to illegals? Or would it be silly to judge him on one issue?

McCain wants to let all of them stay. Perry wants to let the ones with anchor babies stay.

“That would be children of illegal aliens who were brought here.”

And that makes them Illegal Aliens and Rick The RINO signed legislation to grant In-State Tuition to Illegal Aliens.

“Illegal Aliens get free tuition in Texas??”

No. Due to legislation signed by Gov. Perry, Illegal Aliens pay In-State Tuition prices to go to a state university. Essentially, they pay the same price as legal Texas residents.

On the issue of amnesty, Governor Perry addressed a 2008 Governor’s Conference in Miami and made this statement: “I hope that there are 43 Republican Senators, and some thoughtful Democrats who realize that if you want to be an American citizen here’s the way you do it … you need to get in line just like everyone else. Go get in that immigration line like everyone who came before you. Now do we want to have sensible immigration policies that allow people who want to come into our state and work. Absolutely. Secure that border, have a sensible immigration policy, and if you want to be a citizen of the United States, there’s the line. But to go give 13 million people a citizenship because you came here illegally is … is … Asinine!”

Ok, so he said he has a problem with CRIMINAL and VIOLENT illegals in TX/the U.S......So does McCain, how is that different? Not being a smarty, just wondering what I missed..... This video didn’t enlighten me on anything or make me feel better about his immigration stand. Actually, I wonder why he goes ON AND ON crying about the federal govt not securing the border, WHEN HE’S THE GOVERNOR and has had 12 years to do it. Why hasn’t HE?

Ah, got it. Someone else on the thread indicated it was only anchor babies, not “actual” illegals...do you know if that it true?
