***** “Daniel Craig-Casino Royale.” ****
Yep ... My Fav too
TT
Nice!
*We only have 3 movies between Lazenby and Dalton as data points, not really enough to make or break either actor. Just imagine if Dalton had taken over the role back in ~1968? Or if Lazenby had stayed on in the role? We might be crowning one of them as the number one Bond of all time.
On to other things:
Roger Moore ain't getting much love in this thread. He had a couple gems (TSWLM and FYEO), a couple suckaroos (Moonraker, Octopussy) and IMO a couple personal guilty pleasures (TMWTGG and AVTAK). As far as his portrayal of 007, I consider his rendition an extension of his role as The Saint. He played 007 different than Connery, which was a good move; if he tried to copy Connery's style it would have been fake and corny as Hell. The material he had to work with was ehh.
Brosnan, OTOH, tried to mimic Connery too closely. Again, as with Moore, the script material was pretty spent. Like I wrote a few weeks back, my favorite Brosnan flick was Tomorrow Never Dies. Goldeneye and TWINE are ehh, and DAD was pukey (Rosamund Pike and Halle Barry non withstanding).
I have not seen either of the Craig films, so I have no opinion there. FWIW, I think he was fantastic in Layer Cake.
I'll throw two monkey wrenches into the thread: I'd offer Michael Caine starring as Harry Palmer in The Ipcress File as what perhaps Ian Flemming saw Bond to be - more of an everyman, thorn-in-the-side, ungentlemanly spy (yes, I know Palmer has a different creator, Len Deighton; however Harry Saltzman produced the three Palmer films).
And, last but not least, Rick Perry would make an excellent Bond. :)
I'm out!
Best line:
“No, Mr. Bond, I expect you to die.”
Sean Connery and Dr. No for the win! Ursula Andress as Honey Rider (underneath the mango tree my honey
3rd question: Best Bond Theme.
We have all the time in the world - Louie Armstrong

Hands down winner! I forgot that one completely. I think since it starred a Tier II Bond, the song got overlooked :)
That isn't quite fair. What Moore did was bring "The Saint" to the big screen. He played Bond with the same sensibility as the TV show -- a bit prissy and with more humor. I think Moore's movies tended to be a bit more cartoony in nature (writing to the actor?)
My rankings from strongest to weakest:
001) Sean Connery
002) Timothy Dalton
003) Roger Moore
004) Daniel Craig
005) George Lazenby
006) Pierce Brosnan
Best Bond movie: “Thunderball”. The best Bond at his most superconfident in the role.
Roger Moore was the worst. He played the role tongue-in-cheek. James Bond isn’t “The Saint.” I would have put him in 1000th place if I could have.
Blondie’s theme to FYEO starring Dalton instead of Moore:

That was very well done.
Except for "For Your Eyes Only." Moore was not pleased with certain aspects of the script yet it turned out to be his best performance in the role.
Lanenby was the best. He was believable disguised as Sir Hilary Bray. When any of the actors disguised introduced themself, you expected the villain to say, "Really, you seem very like a Secret Service agent"
Moore
Connery
Craig
I agree, Sean Connery was the best. I rank Daniel Craig as a close second best.
Agreed. I wish Dalton was in FYEO instead of Moore.
That's funny. You know who auditioned for Octopussy when Moore was thinking of quitting? James Brolin (would have been a big time fail imo, his screen test is on youtube). His son Josh played George W. Bush in "W" but if you ask me Josh Brolin looks more like, Rick Perry.
Imaging Princess Leia as a Bond girl....
She could have played the Tanya Roberts character in AVTAK.
Speaking of which, did you see what Carrie Fisher looks like today? Jabba the Hutt. She’s unrecognizable even from a few years ago. Sounds like she’s a head case too.
