They would have used Shanghai, Korea, and Vladivostok as logistical bases. The 1945 campaign would have cleared Japanese forces from the Asian mainland. Again they were not going to invade Japan alone. The US Navy would have provided transport. As stated before, if the Red Army was available for an invasion of Japan, and it was left on the sidelines, the American public would have lynched Truman. Great discussion, you made some good points

Truman would have been impeached if he did not drop the A-bombs, and we suffered massive casualties in an invasion.
