The Perry Model: Would a Stimulus Bill of $42.75 Billion Been Enough?

Democrats claim that the $17.1 billion in Stimulus Funds that Texas received is largely the reason why that state created forty percent of net jobs gained in the USA the last two years.

Well, if this critic is true, then the full Stimulus should have been only $42.75 billion. Right? $17.1 billion gives us 40% jobs; another $17.1 billion would give us another forty percent, and then half of another $17.1 would give us another twenty percent, and we would be where we are now with $42.75 billion instead of a $787 billion bill. No?

While I am at it, Texas has more than 8% of the USA population, yet received less than 7% of the $267.6 billion already granted, awarded and loaned through the American Recovery Act. If Perry gave us with his Stimulus fund a few balanced budgets and forty percent of the country’s new jobs, then he did a job better than other Big State Governors.

Too bad he signed a letter with Joe Manchin encouraging Tarp.

As leaders of our respective organizations, we don't always see eye to eye on policy, but we come together today with one clear purpose. We strongly urge Congress to leave partisanship at the door and pass an economic recovery package. We both believe that it’s time to stand together for our country.

There is a time for partisanship and there is a time for getting things done. No one likes the hand they've been dealt, and now is not the time to assign blame. It is time for Washington, D.C. to step up, be responsible and do what's in the best interest of American taxpayers and our economy.

This economic crisis is not just impacting Wall Street; it is also making life harder for everyday Americans. Americans across the country and in every demographic are feeling the pinch. If Congress does not act soon, the situation will grow appreciably worse. It's time for leadership. Congress needs to act now.

What separates George Bush(both of them) and Barry Half-White?...
Regrettably ... not a lot... all three are BIG government politicians..

Wonder how long it will be before George Bush Jr. receives some kind “Hero of the Democrat Party” award..
They havn’t noticed that it was G.W. that made Barry Half-White even POSSIBLE...

It will only be a matter of time before they notice it..
G.W... is indeed a Hero of the BIG government democrat sedition..
YOU know... the treasonous revolution being tried in the White Hut currently..
The RINOs should have no problem with it either..

If the Dems claims are true then why didn’t stimulus money create jobs in other states?

Calling on Congress to pass an undescribed "economic recovery package" is somehow support of the TARP we got?

That's a stretch. That brief letter is a bipartisan call to action from the chairman of the two governor's associations. Nothing more.

That's an amusing way to look at the size of the stimulus and puts the Dems back on their heels for their claims.

If you accept the Dem premise, it makes Perry look very efficient and the Dems widely wasteful.

Perry has his own version of Obama stimulus, providing hundreds of millions of Taxpayer money to his pet corporate welfare schemes in return for jobs from the benfactors that are failing to materialize resulting in fraud, waste and abuse. Funny how that hasn’t been addressed by the “Perry is a conservative” crowd. Not to mention the 33M dollars he dropped in the lap of the Texas DREAM Act to give free tuition to illegals or the 15M his TxDOT spent on environmental studies for constructing the multi billion dollar TTC before public outcry forced him to shut that monstrosity down. Now, tell me again how Perry is Mr. conservatism in action?
