FWIW, heterosexual anal intercourse is more common in Europe. And there is a reason why Aids cases among women in Europe are higher than in the US.

The men have sex with men (msm) people don't have the tough plates in a woman's vagina. But both sexes have very thin tissue in the anus; therefore, making proctogenital intercourse an unsafe practice period.
They used to have laws against sodomy. It seems for some good reason.

True for a monogamous couple. Not true for people who indulge in multiple partners.
