Pollsters are perhaps even more dishonest than journalists. If a client want a poll to come out a certain way, he selects the sampling and words the questions in the way that will produce the desired result.

One of Luntz’s biggest clients is FNC and FNC doesn't want Palin to run.

Hah, touché.

In all seriousness though, I don’t understand the fanaticism here on FR for Palin.

I saw that when he said it. He said this other more recently, as though recanting his objective earlier opinion. Try to keep up with the times... to quote Robby Zimmerman:

"Come gather 'round people wherever you roam,
And admit that the waters around you have grown,
And accept it that soon you'll be drenched to the bone.

If your time to you is worth savin'

Then you better start swimmin' or you'll sink like a stone—
For the times they are a-changin'.

I heard him say that too, G. It really surprised me. And I don’t watch this week, so it had to have been on Fox. I think it was on Megyn’s show, but I’m not sure. What I did notice was that he looked uncomfortable. And then I saw rove do HIS hit. The establishment longknives are out and making no effort to hide it anymore.

"I suspect he is saying that from what his subjects tell him,"

When Luntz is citing responses from his focus groups, he says so. This was his own off-the-cuff opinion offered as such in normal discussion. And it has only the most improbative possible basis in oversipmplistic "facts."

Saying "Palin" and "Bachmann" in the same breath is borderline delusional... as you'll be reminded of all-too-clearly when she announces and the country shakes so that your coffee spills from the response.

Lintz is not a pollster. He hires focus groups and works hard to convince them that they ought to think what he tells them to. He’s a jackass. Bad for the party and bad for the country.

My feeling about SP. The reason that FR is fanatical about her is because she has been so unfairly maligned by the LSM as well as RINOS. I don’t post here often, but I think folks here don’t take kindly to this treatment of her as she represents many of our own core values and they don’t want the media elites picking our candidate for us like they did last go-around. I would like SP to jump in, even if it would be to merely broaden the discussion. Although, if she runs I will do all I can to support her and boost her campaign.

If anyone can justify watching Fox news after this, let me know. For curiosity’s sake.

While you’re at it, tell me why anyone anywhere should continue to watch any channel on cable television, and why they shouldn’t immediately discontinue all cable or satellite television service.

The guy is a propagandist, always has been.

IIRC, Luntz coined the phrase "climate change" as opposed to globull warming.

Couldn't have Al out there touting warming while it was snowing and freezing, lol!

"If anyone can justify watching Fox news after this,"

I read this in "American Thinker." I'll continue to read "American Thinker," as well as watch football, C-Span, Boston Celtics, Hannity, etc.

Both are real conservatives who fight for what they believe in, and are associated with the TEA Party. Both are considered existential threats to the beltway hacks in both parties. That does make them more like each other than any of the rest of the crowd.

no knowledge of economics etc.

Really? Sez who? As I recall Palin was the first major Republican to point out that QE2 was going to devalue the dollar and cause higher consumer prices. The "knowedgable" folks laughed, but she was right, and they were wrong.

In every area but the two that count... name recognition and breadth/depth of national support.

Not even close where the rubber meets the voting booth... or in practical experience/astounding track record, for that matter.

Amen brother!

The mission of Frank Luntz appears to be the same as most Democrats: reduce crucial issues of national security, fiscal/tax policy, immigration, etc. to a simple recitation of buzzwords trotted out at every venue or debate. Deep thought, words of two syllables or more or a unifying theme are unneeded, even unwanted, in the world of Luntz.

Luntz may or may not acknowledge it but his ultimate candidate is Barack Obama, who can spew teleprompter catchphrases all night long. We’ve seen how that works out.

PS - the same wheel-turning idiots are worshiped by USA Today for their ‘Admeter’ scores during the Super Bowl.

Frankly, I couldn’t give a damn what people who willingly watch commercials think.
