My husband was in Scotland on business and met an old friend and his wife there. They drove down to meet my husband at his hotel (a renowned one) and left their Golden Retriever in the car while they dined. The owner asked the waitress for some water for the dog. When she heard that he was waiting in the car,he insisted that they bring the dog in, and she served him water in a silver bowl and dog treats on a silver platter.
It is a common sight there, according to our friends. There were dogs all over the dining room, resting calmly at their owners’ feet.
As well they should, properly trained and all.
