NEW ALBANY, Ind. -- A 75-year-old grandmother has been indicted on murder charges and faces the possibility of spending the rest of her life behind bars.

Nettie Luckett is accused of killing Douglas Randolph, her 49-year-old son-in-law.

Police and the Floyd County prosecutor admit this is an unusual case, but they say it's not the age that matters -- it's the act.

"The cause of death was a gunshot wound from a .38 caliber handgun," said Floyd County Prosecutor Keith Henderson. "Two shots were fired."

"Nettie is a grandmother, a great-grandmother and aunt," said Luckett's daughter, Crystal Moss. "She's a wonderful person. Anybody you talk to will tell you the same thing."

"One shot, killing the victim, to the head. There was also a second shot fired that did not strike anything or anyone in the house," said Floyd County Prosecutor Keith Henderson.

Police said the evidence in this case shows intent to kill.

"Clearly there was a dispute between the deceased and Ms. Luckett in the house that erupted in gunfire," said Floyd County Prosecutor Keith Henderson.

The guy was probably beating her daughter and no one would do anything about it.

I have come to discover that old people do not loose arguments and could care less about the consequences of their actions.

There was a recent case in Pahrump, Nevada where a man didn’t like his daughter’s choice of boyfriends. Man told 21 year old male to leave his property, young man refused, continued sitting in his car in the driveway, father shot him dead.

Wow - totally wrong of course. The ‘get off the lawn’ thing is from FARK. I love reading FARK when some old person does something and the cut line is ‘and get off the lawn’.

Old people do not untie their arguments? What does that mean?

If that was the case she should be acquitted...My granddaughter come to a family gathering with a new boyfriend....I didn't like him so I gently told him all her uncles and nephews were hunters and we all own guns....He gave a sick smile. Granddaughter is unmarried 24 and an artist. Don't screw with her cause grandma is 72 and wouldn't mind spending the rest of her life in jail...less work to do and no maintenance to keep up with.....(I am not kidding) If he laid an angry hand on her, he's be kinda dumb...

You may not know it but there was a time in this country when it wasn't unusual for kids to be pulled from school after the sixth grade. They were needed on the farm. She probably learned more in those 6 years then kids now days learn in 12.
