Is anyone else worried about, now, Hurricane Katia? Or, being a guy from Baltimore, do I not know anything about hurricanes?
This morning seems to have brought bad news...it's strengthening and the track has changed to hitting the US in the mid Atlantic. They say it's very early to forecast but it seems to have a stable track. Seems odd that it would make a 90 or 180 degree turn and not make landfall in the US.
Google ‘recurve’ and get back to us.
FR Hurricane Central says it’s too early to put up a worry flag. Enjoy your Labor Day weekend.
I just had landscaping put in and I’m a little on edge. Thanks.
Just checked the NOAA website and LL of the models have this one heading out into the North Atlantic.
I wouldn’t worry about this one unless you are planning to go sailing in the North Atlantic in the next few days.

Hurricanes change direction slowly, in fact, over the past day the storm has gone from moving directly west to NW today. Given it is well over 1000 miles out, too soon to hit the panic button in the mid atlantic albeit were I in Newfoundland, I’d be a tad concerned.
If I was in Newfoundland, I’d be worried and pissed!
FUBO GTFO! 505 Days until Noon Jan 20, 2013 !
The Hurricane Center does a very good job on Atlantic storms with the three day forecast. They are very good with the track of the storm, but not the wind speed. Forget the models because they are just for guidance. The Hurricane Center is not so good with Gulf storms. Katia is too far out for an accurate forecast track right now. But as it closer, you can believe the NHC three day forecast track.
Surfs Up next week, Kids back in school. Ruggles will be as they say in Hawaii “Da Kine Ono”.
Don’t worry Vision. Fire the grill up and warm up the radio tomorrow. We’re swamped in by the rain of TS whatever here in Miss.

No worries. Yet.
My kids ended up missing 3 days of school thanks to Irene. The middle school entrance sign message read “Welcome Back Again” as we had only completed 3 days of school before Irene blasted through here. We’re enjoying nice weather here this weekend and an air show at NAS Pax River, but still warily keeping an eye on Katia.
These things almost always track right. There is a cold front hiting the east coast this weekend which will push Katia even farther right when they collide.
It's track depends on the strength and scope of the high pressure dome northeast of Bermuda. At the moment, that dome shows a weakening trend.
And even if it had a bead on Baltimore, it's a week of more out.
It actually would be somewhat unusual for the storm not to make that eventual turn, but the century-long history of Baltimore's occasional and inevitable encounters with hurricanes shows a direct hit from that direction has happened before.
