Two miles of beach in San Diego were open Friday despite a series of recent shark sightings. One shark was caught in a photo Wednesday.
Its tail fin can clearly be seen in the photo...Experts identified it as a 10- to 12-foot great white.
There have been three confirmed shark sightings along that coastline in a week.

Anyway, they dropped us off the back of a fast boat in full flight gear and a parachute harness. We'd free ourselves from the harness, inflate the preserver etc.
Each of us was given a piece of Wrigleys Chewing Gum. It was the US Navy's official shark repellent. Our instructions were to remain perfectly still, and chew the hell out of that gum to relieve stress.
I had a whole bunch of stress. There were sharks EVERYWHERE. Not 3 minutes went buy that I didn't see at least one. I also saw a couple of big one's like the one in this picture.
A couple of weeks later I found myself at the San Diego aquarium. They had a stuffed Great White on display that had been caught right off the coast...snagged in a fishing net.
28ft long. 3,800 pounds. The liver weighed 850lbs.
I haven't set foot in salt water since. Never will again.
FAR, FAR more traumatic than the Water Board.
Didn't give us any gum - just said "jump!" and wait for the helo. Never saw a shark (October).
SERE/DWEST was a great time... waterboarded twice.
Don’t P in the water...sharks zero in on it.
Show me the way to go home;
I’m tired and I wanna go to bed.
I had another drink about an hour ago,
and it went right to my head.
Wherever I may roam,
o’er land, or sea, or foam,
You can always hear me singin’ this song:
Show me the way to go home.
Now Great Whites are sighted along the coast.
The Rats in Sacramento are a bunch of idiots, what did they think would happen?
No doubt!
I don’t know. That photo seems faked. Why would a shark be swimming in a breaking wave? What about that guy just standing there? It would appear that he’s only a few feet from the head and might notice something, maybe?
The tail fin looks a bit to thin to be a Great White.
I doubt it is altered.
Lotsa shark food including migrating whales, porpoises, seals, various fish, surfers and swimmers, etc.
Ah ... er ... um ... real surfers come in ALL political stripes. Especially the older ones (the guys who are still surfing in their 40s, 50s, and 60s). Just FYI!
