Exactly. In a nutshell, that's a large part of what's wrong with our society today. We lionize "entertainers" who, in the grand scheme of things are utterly unimportant, while ignoring (or ridiculing) what is truly important.
I witnessed this while working as a clerk in a record store as a kid. I was into pop music in a big way. What finally turned me off is the blank-eyed hero-worship that ruled so many pop music fans lives. They truly modeled themselves on people like Freddy Mercury. As a result, lives were destroyed.
This is not something to celebrate, in my opinion.
