Here’s the rub, though. The world actually is the way the beautiful woman describes it, for her. Both generalize from their own experience. You may say the latter is more accurate for humanity as a whole. In that case you’d say the ugly skew reality less. Is that a good thing? You’d think it’d help people avoid being suckers, but some of the least socially adept people I’ve ever encountered have been bitter cynics.
Bad experience, despite the press, does not necessarily make you wiser. Most of mankind’s great geniuses have come, if not from the highest echelons, at least the comfortable lower aristocracy and middle class. Same as how most of the smart people come from the rich West. Most of the world’s population consist of the “havenots,” who have no glasses, let alone rose tinted ones. They know the world is cruel, and if they had their druthers the global economic system no doubt would be based on gimme, gimme, gimme. Thank God us (relatively) comfortable, easygoing rich people only act the same way most of the time, instead of all of it, so that we maintain whatever advantages we have.
The government didn't force Bear Bryant to integrate the Alabama football team, getting creamed by USC did.
I’m ugly as sin, semiretired at 45 with a taxfree income and live on a sailboat cruising. I’m not complaining, just telling it like it is. Everyone in my youth who rode on their looks are struggling in joe jobs, became baby factories or ar divorced multiple and on a road to addiction. As far as I’m concerned, looking like a shaved ape ended up being a perk.

And when businesses get competitive, you don’t refuse to serve blacks. The guy down the street will serve them and put you out of business, especially as more and more longtime racist whites die off or snap out of it.

You are what they call an outlier. This issue is concerned with averages. People are less concerned with individual cases, which are of course as varied as the day is long. Jackie Robinson had a good ride in the bad old days of racism. According to me that’s a pretty decent argument against race discrimination laws, but almost no one else agrees.

Good call. We chould just send them to the national razor immediately upon exiting the womb. That way we can prevent them from becoming Tea Partiers later in life.
