Due to the problems many of you experienced submitting your public comment on the National Patient ID card before the Sept 6th deadline, I have been in contact with staff from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS).
CMS has offered us a new limited opportunity to send in comments on the proposed National Patient ID card inferred within the “operating rules” regulation. (see 9/2/11 CCHF email).
CMS staff has told me that the Search Engine was having a problem. At some point, CMS posted a notice of the problem on Regulations.gov, although only one person I know of saw it.
Bottomline, I’ve been given a special email address that you can use to send your comments for the rest of this week.
PLEASE FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS:
1) Do it soon.
2) Make sure your email Subject line says: “DIFFICULTY WITH REGULATIONS.GOV; HERE IS MY PUBLIC COMMENT.”
3) Reference the regulation in your public comment. (e.g. RE: CMS-0032-IFC - Administrative Simplification: Adoption of Operating Rules for Eligibility for a Health Plan and Health Care Claims Status Transaction.)
4) Use the following email address: shawn.braxton@cms.hhs.gov
5) Carbon copy (cc): matthew.albright@cms.hhs.gov
6) Please blind carbon copy (bcc) me: twila@cchfreedom.org
7) Include your state and zipcode. If you wish, include more information such as first and last name, title, address, corporation, etc.
8) Send the email.
