Heritage Auctions spokesman Donn Pearlman on Tuesday said the auction will include more than 700 personal and professional items, including an eye patch Wayne wore in his Golden Globe-winning performance in "True Grit."

From True Grit to Brokeback Mountain in 40 years.
Right there you can see the evolution (devolution?)of our society.
One of the greatest screen icons of all time. My brother lives in L.A. so I’ll try to get him to go to this auction (he’s into Wayne memorabilia).
Did you know that there are some folks on FR who absolutely HATE John Wayne? It’s true! Several months ago on a JW thread, I was excoriated and mocked for my love of the Duke!!

Regardless of what people say about him, I have enjoyed a lot of his movies.
The quiet Man —one of the non-Westerns done remains one of my favorites.
