There is something to be said about showing up, and paying your dues.

Traditionally candidates didn't throw their hat into the ring for the Presidency until after Labor Day. This nonstop campaigning is wearisome.

The NH primary is now first of January....two months earlier than in the old days

After Labor day is way back.

George W Bush declared June 12, 1999

John McCain declared March 12, 2007

Bob Dole declared April 1995

Bush I waited till 12/1999 but he was sitting president..not unusual

Bush announced in 1979 on May 1st

I agree they start to early but once Super Tuesday pushed them all back to first of the year to give more campaign time and hopefully void convention fights..like 1980...it’s all pushed back

no matter how one cuts it today and no matter how much FR cheers..Palin is late..it may work for her..but it is late
