Uh oh! Watch out for the Amish. . .
Operation Fast & Furious? What good is an empty gun?
Note to the Ass. Press: The Marines, Air Force, Navy and Coast Guard have bases. The Army has posts. I know none of you ever gave a second thought to wearing the uniform (you’re above that, and people can get hurt & even killed in the military!) but at least try to act like you know what you’re talking about. It’ll help you fool the great unwashed masses all the more...
If I’m not mistaken, one ammo box contains 1000 rounds of 5.56 mm ammo. That would account for 14 boxes. Ft. Bragg is a huge Army post. I’ve heard that some units would rather get rid of the ammo rather than turn it in because of the hassle it would be to fill out the paperwork on returned ammo. Check the local rivers or lakes.
Not a lot of ammo. This is, to my mind, a nonstory. No offense to you WHATSOEVER, of course.
I bought a 500 rd box of 5.56 recently and it measured 11”L x 6”H x 6”W. It would take 28 of these boxes to add up to 14,000 rounds. 396 cubic inches per box X 28 is 11088 total cubic inches, divided by 1728 would be 6.42 cubic feet. It would fit in the back seat of my truck with room for a lot more left over. Please check my math if you so desire.
I have had, from time to time, upwards of 10,000 rounds of various calibers in my safe. I could put a pretty good dent in that in one day at the range with a few friends.
14,000 rounds is a nice number to have around for just anybody that shoots on a regular basis. This is nothing for a military post like Bragg.
Look! Look over here at the missing 5.56 ammo! No! Don’t look at the missing MANPAD surface-to-air missiles in Libya!
