There was no mechanism for us to go to the House of Commons and file articles of impeachment against the King who was literally killing his people.
Instead, we had to resort to revolution.
The impeachment power is there to effect peaceful removal of oppressive executives. Unlike other countries, we are not supposed to storm the White House and do nasty things to the President and his ministers.
Unfortunately, the impeachment power has, for all practical purposes, been excised from the Constitution. Certain democrat Senators said they did not care if Bill Clinton was caught with a smoking gun over a dead body; they would vote for acquittal.
Because of this, we have a President whose actions reflect that he knows there is no crime that will get him booted from office.
A President without limit on power is a tyrant.
The quality of a democracy will never exceed the quality of the press.
