Great! The Burbs are in the most danger from the fires.
Oh yeah, has anyone smelled the Bayous lately. OMG. Yet another reason for a good cleansing rain.

Speaking of fire, I was on US 71 between Smithville and Bastrop twice this week. The fire damage on both sides of US 71 is beyond belief to me. To see the area burnt and charred was something I hope I never have to see again nor others have to endure in their neighborhoods.

We over in the southeast area got some rain from the last TD that went into LA. It seemed to stop a county or two just west of the Sabine River. Take care.

I don’t know if that is a good thing. A tropical storm would have brought us rain which would have also brought other parts of Texas rain. There are parts of Texas that receives most of their rain fall from tropical systems.

It has been awful dry in these parts no doubt. Where we live in SE NM we went 11 mo. with no rain until a few weeks ago.

We went up to Oregon last week and driving back this week we had a lot of rain all along the way. We planned to see the Grand Canyon on Thursday. We stayed as long as our schedule would permit but the rain never quit and the fog was so thick we never got to see a darn thing.

From the canyon we took U.S. 180 down through SE Arizona / SW New Mexico where some of the big fires were earlier this year. We were pleased to see things were greening up nicely and I don't believe the affects will be as devastating as first thought. Hopefully E. Texas will see the land heal as quickly.

Meanwhile a big storm is headed my way this very hour. Good, because we still have a lot of catching up to do!

Prayers answered, let's hope it does more than put out fires, but replenishes weakened crops and trees and helps restore the water table where it needs it.

Please *PING* Texas Freepers where appropriate.

Between NM, OKLA, and Tx we need this rain.

They have been predicting that we wouldn’t get any rain until NEXT Spring. Thank Goodness the weatherman did not break his record of being wrong. That’s why I have NOAA and NHC in my favs.

I heard quite a few people actually wanting a TS or Hurricane. Now that is desperate.

TS Alicia caused a massive amount of damage in Houston. Especially in the MED CENTER.

We had .25 yesterday and another .50 or so today. 35 miles NW of Austin. Looks like more in store for us later.

Just returned from the store and I can still see dust on the ground. Rain seems to move all around Humble but avoids us. I can only think of all the wild life in the area searching for water.
