Nice. Most people wouldn’t know a real camera if it walked up and snapped them in the arse.

Along with my Fuji IS1 IR, this is my favorite camera:

http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/sonydscr1/

I always wanted a Hasselblad medium format [fat chance] because I loved the waist level viewfinder.

That thing has an every-level-viewfinder that swivels.

[it was a spin-off of the Sony F828s and F717s with a swiveling body...still have the F828...a real workhorse]

It takes great photos but Sony only made it for about a year and went back to rear mount VFs.

I don’t know why.
The DSC R1 now usually sells for more used than I paid new.

There was obviously a demand for them but Sony dropped them anyway.

I don’t understand that “logic”.

I have a Hasselblad 503 just sitting in a case. I can’t sell it and I can’t use it.

Thanks for the ping! Ive seen a few of these here and there but am not an owner. That looks pretty factory to me. :)

Will this be a shooter or a shelfer for you?

Keep it dry, don’t let the fungus get it.

I picked up a very nice baby Grey Rollieflex at a local thrift store but it was expensive, I think $20.

I can’t shoot them all, just play with one at a time. I’ve got 4 or 5 not working most of the time, hunting for parts.

If you have a working example, you've got gold. Perhaps not in monetary value, but it's one of the beter range-finder cameras, and probably the best low-light rangefinder ever made.

You can get updated batteries for it here.

In interest of full disclosure, I'm biased. I have 2 of them. :)

I just got it because it's part of history.

Great line SS! I buy old photo post cards of Humboldt County Ca and points north and south on Highway 101. I buy them because I can and I have over 2,500 of them...

There’s a guy on ebay by the name of Bob Talley. He seems to know everything about old cameras and is more than happy to help find parts, provide information. Anything you’re looking for, he has it.

Hey! I have that model. My auntie had the model “A” 135 that I ended up with. She was a world traveller, have tons of color slides of Europe from the early 50s that were taken with that. I still have it.

It takes decent enough photos. Interestingly enough, I noticed the lens is at least as radioactive as the check source on my Geiger counter. It must be the coatings used, maybe as a kind of polarizing effect? If the angle is right the blue-sky colors are pretty neat. wish I could post some prints here that have taken with that ole’ thing.

You are just a young kid! I have you by over 10 years.

I lived in Rochester NY and had about every camera that was made there...The old autograph is my trophy. Postcard size pictures that message was printed on the edge.

f4.5 ,,, max shutter 1/200th ... no focusing ability ,, guess focus (zone focus) ,, you overpaid at $3 ,, they made better cameras as far back as the 1920’s ,, I’ve bought quality german rangefinders at garage sales .. did you at least get a light meter so the camera would be useful?

The radioactivity is in the glass, I think from thorium. Some old lenses get a yellow cast as they age.

I just finished going through the whole camera looking for things that needed cleaning, there wasn't enough crud to stain a Q tip.

My Pentax ME Super SE is turning out to be my favorite film camera but I want to run a few rolls through the Kodak. I picked up some B&W film last week to play with. Got a roll in one of the Pentax K1000s now, those things are all over the place. I figured an easy way to repair most K1000 meter circuits and that's the most common problem with them.

That’s not the point, I bought it to play with. If I want to be serious I use my Sony Alpha. I don’t want to mess with anything in film but 35mm, it is just too much hassle to have anything else developed and I have no place to put a darkroom now.
