Hawthorn berry, check it. Side effects
Overdose can cause cardiac arrhythmia and dangerously lower blood pressure. Milder side effects include nausea and sedation.

"My endocrinologist has me on 2000 mg of Vitamin D because my levels were low." My doctor has me on 50,000 IU's a week.

My endocrinologist has me on 2000 mg of Vitamin D because my levels were low.Vitamin D dosages are usually expressed in IU or micrograms. Milligrams would be lethal. I believe that 2,000IU is the maintenance level advocated by Dr. Holick.

I post these things to hopefully help people and not to kill them. You said to check hawthorn berry and I did and I see that they can be dangerous.

My doctor has me on 50,000 IU's a week. Why so high? Our doc said 1,000 - 2,000. I had read recently that it could help fatigue so I started taking 10,000 - 12,000, until I read yesterday about irregular heartbeats and a bunch of other things. So, I thought maybe I better cut back! lol

..no, you didn't, you throated some words from ex-spurts, you don't "know", you have opinions ( & the other thing that goes with them).
. . .let me ax you a question, "have you been taking hawthorn berry for 30 years and are you in perfect health?".

Much appreciated, too. You/we should really look into these things first. I had read that ashwagandha was good for boosting the metabolism. Looked into it and its looks very risky to me.

My mental health is fine. So good that I don't post what appear to be drunken rants.

You don't eat the whole tree scardy cats, moderation, stick your toe in the water, get used to it.
The prejudice is amazing, it's like it's ok to make a movie White men Can't Jump, but my script Black Men Can't Swim meets all kinds of resistance.

"Why so high?" I had been taking 4,000 IU's a day for about 18 months. My most recent blood tests show that my vitamin D was still way low...so, 50,000, we'll see.

Looked into it and its looks very risky to me.I'm all for natural remedies and nutritional preventatives and all that stuff. But I want to see them studied for efficacy and for harmful effects.
Because I post a lot of this stuff I sometimes get asked for what I consider to be medical advice. That gives me a queasy feeling as I'm not at all qualified to give such advice. There are FReepers who are so qualified and they don't give specific medical advice at this remove.

Mine was low too. I have to go back soon so we’ll see if mine goes up. How long have you been taking 50,000?
