why doesn't he build tracks/training/riding paths for him and his buds

I bike at least twice a week when the weather is good, and I agree with you 100%.

Bicyclists should have no right to be on a road, period. When you think about it, it doesn't even make sense. A bike going 5 mph sharing a road with cars going 35 mph?

As you said, if you want to bike, find a bike trail.

I bike lots. Like 100 or so miles a week.

These guys deserved to get tased for being a couple of douche bags. When a cops tells you to stop, you stop.

Hell, I’d tase em just for the fun of it.

Good look with that, Gomer. In the mean time, keep your eyes on the road and your big wide butt where current traffic laws dictate.

Though I agree that the spandex wearers are a PITA on roads, a bike can easily go 15 to 25 mph. I can easily outpace cars when riding on park access roads with speed bumps as an active suspension that can anticipate the bumps doesn't have to slow down.

There aren't enough trails .... cities usually can't afford that.

5 MPH?! What ... are you 90 years old or something? When I cycle, it's at least 15, sometimes mid 20s. Fortunately, 95% of the drivers I encounter are friendly and do share the road. And I do obey the laws of the road.

Yes, there are groups that do, at times, get in the way. But really .... how much time out of your day are they really taking? A few seconds?

"Bicyclists should have no right to be on a road, period." I believe diametrically opposite to that: 180˚. Roads should be built with a paved shoulder at least 24" wide -it wouldn't add much to the cost of the road and it would provide a lane for the bikes. North Carolina does this with a eider shoulder than that. The trouble with bike paths is that they don't go anywhere. If a cyclist is using his bicycle for transportation, to get from point A to point B, then a road is really the only way to get there.

Better yet, make it mandatory for bicyclist to view photos/images of a typical bicyclist who rides in or along side traffic, to view the photos of a fatal collision between a bicyclist and two ton vehicle, when they've gone under the wheels.

If that don't get their attention, nothing will.

Add to that the fact that driver pay for the roads with taxes on Gas, registering their cars and carry insurance. Bike riders pay nothing and they cause a lot of trouble. they think they are holier than thou.
One cure I have for really ignorant bike rider is once I am able to pass, give them a spray from the washers. Or hug the parked cars so they cant pass on the inside.

So bicyclists aren't full citizens. In your world, the only means of transportation is the automobile or public transport, right?

What do you tell the bicycle commuter?
