The comments at the Examiner site are not very flattering to the police. I believe we are close to the time when the police are going to be viewed as the enemy rather than ‘Officer Friendly the beat Cop’ by the majority of the population.

Close? A lot of us have been at that point for years.
Hey, another day, another dog shot by the good ‘ol boys in blue. It’s par for the course now.

This was no Accident! The cop intentionally shot the dog.
To: The Working Man
I believe that has been the intent behind many of the dog shootings.
Can’t have a police state, where the cops and populace are on friendly terms.

yeah... I think we’re there. A criminal has never hurt my family. But through fines from various things, the police have lessened the amount of money I can spend on my family. So I don’t look very fondly on that particular gang.

The article is short on facts. Was the cops in her yard? Or did she just let the dogs out of her house into the street to piss?
If the latter, who just lets their dogs run outside into the street?
I'm not defending the cops, just irresponsible for the presumed owner to have no care to others and especially the actions of their dogs.

Not meaning any disrespect, but,
Were U to shoot a cop’s puppy,
Ya think you’d get any respect even if
u did it by “accident” ?
To: Immerito
Been drilling it into my kids for a few years now....the cops are NOT your friends.

I believe we are close to the time when the police are going to be viewed as the enemy rather than Officer Friendly the beat Cop by the majority of the population. The American sheeple want a fascist police state. They love it, the politicians know it, so it's only going to get worse.
To: Palter
There is another possibility—the dogs were in her yard, but the officer didn’t appreciate a dog in its own yard growling at him.
The canine, in so doing, failed to respect his authoriteh.
The average UPS man or meter reader has larger cajones than the average cynophobic cop, it seems.
If a police officer can’t handle a growling dog, how will he deal with a real threat?

I suspect thats what happened. It’s just sad that where the dog was shot wasn’t mentioned.

Dog growls at officer.
Officer shoots dog.
Dead dog has apparently good judgment as to the officer’s character.

Didn’t the incident at Ruby Ridge start out like this? US Marshalls snooping around in the bushes shot the Weaver’s dog and Randy’s son shot one of the marshalls, and was himself shot in the back by another marshall.

You are right, not enough facts here. I think far too many cops are shooting dogs when they don’t have to, but I gotta tell you that is a pit is growling at me, I might shoot too. I’m a dog lover, but no fan of pits.
