Last month my son put a new muffler on his car. It’s legal and gives the EPA it’s nod, but it’s loud. You can hear him from half a mile away.
I’d recommend that he change it, but it sure does make the car sound cool. :)

[embarrassing confession: in 1980, I put a Thrush straight-through on my Gremlin and later, a “Cherry Bomb”...they sounded *way* cool...considering]...LOL
