Michelle Obama shops incognito at Target (Photo) (BREAKING NEWS!)

First Lady Michelle Obama was spotted shopping at Target by an Associated Press photographer who told CBS News he was tipped off that she would be there.

AP photographer Charles Dharapak told CBS News he took the picture at the Target on Route 1 in Alexandria, Virginia.

The first lady's office confirmed that the picture showed Mrs. Obama, though it did not immediately respond when asked if it tipped off Dharapak.

"It is not uncommon for the First Lady to slip out to run an errand, eat at a local restaurant or otherwise enjoy the city outside the White House gates," said Kristina Schake, communications director for the First Lady.

BS Photo op meant to show us how “just like us she is.

Surely a photo op, but hardly is she just like us. I haven't been to a Target in over a year. Many people now have to shop at the Dollar General, or second hand clothing stores. And those stores are much more crowded lately. If she were in one of those for this staged pic, then she would be more like most Americans today who are broke and can't even afford Target.

Good for her. Presumably that's the Target in Potomac Yards. The Pentagon City-Pentagon Row-Crystal City-Potomac Yards area is turning into quite an attractive urban place, as is the Ballston-Clarendon corridor to the north. Some of the northern Virginia 'burbs are maturing nicely.

Potomac Yards is where we would head from Capitol Hill to see a move or shop at Best Buy, Target, or Barnes and Noble. Right over the river and easy to park.

There is a story today that an AP photographer was, in fact, tipped off that the First Lady would be at Target.

Just like her husband, the story is phony.
