Durbin is clueless on free enterprise. First he passes a disastrous amendment, then is ticked off when the bank passes on the costs of the amendment. Not fair, he thinks...

Kinda like Obama saying, "I think there is a poiint where you've made enough money."

Clueless people running our great country.

Come Nov 2012, quick...

So if enough pull out and harm the bank, Durbin, will you be happy then?

“I am honored to be connected with this effort,” Durbin said today.

“What we are doing is fair to try to strike some balance in an industry that has shown little or no balance.”

Can’t BOA sue Durban for using his position to direct people away from the bank?

Amazing that Sen Dick-head spoke yesterday and BAC’s website crashed. The senior idiot Senator from Illinois just yelled ‘fire’ in a crowded movie theater. Starting a bank run on one of the largest US banks is a brilliant idea when the markets are already on edge over Europe and Greece.

The inter-bank lending market has frozen again, just like in 2008, and the last thing we need are polticians like Barry and Durbin making it worse by calling for depositers to pull their money out of banks.

I agree with him for once, BOA is a terrible company. Thats why I closed my accounts with them several years ago. Unfortunately they own my mortgage so I can’t get rid of them entirely.

I’d encourage everyone to leave. However I am not a Senator (not even a crappy one like him). Senators should not be making statements like this about any company, its un-American.

Our elected representatives have protection for anything they may say while doing business on the house or senate floor...

I have half a mind to head over to the nearest BOA and OPEN an account there.

Just to piss off Dick.

To really understand why Dick is upset, you have to understand the banking industry (not just BOA) is going to pass on the higher costs of Durbin’s governmental interference to ALL customers. BOA is just being creative as they pass on “The Durbin Fee”, as a reminder to everyone that - once again - the gubmint has screwed us over.

“Unfortunately they own my mortgage so I can’t get rid of them entirely.”

Refinance!

I just locked in a 30 year fixed of 3.75%, APR of 3.837% with USAA. It sure beats the 5.875% on my old mortgage.

Sorta like telling people which car to drive, which coffee to buy and which doctor to visit.

The power of the purse.

Cannot believe this is over $5 a month!!!! One gallon of gas.

Pretty much all banks are raising fees to make up the lost funds to pay for the interchanges.

Focusing on BoA is just convenient.

This turd is my senator. Dick Turban has been the worse thing that has come out of Illinois, mostly because of his duration [he has lasted way too long]. The only thing one can say is that his mother and father had great insight when they named him Dick!

I did! Back in 2000,
I retired, started a new account with my retirement moneys; I had been with my bank for over 39 years (had checking, saving and some retiremnt moneys). I was not aware that if I did not either write a check or make a deposite I was charged an inactivity fee. (Which about equalled the interest paid on my accounts).
Evidence to me, banks seemed to be hiring their sons and daughters (& neices and nephews) they paid big salaries and taught them to figure out to charge their customers more, to justify their salaries.
Sad to say most businesses, today, focus on how to charge their customers more, rather than how to give them better services!
All businesses that practice such,(even our government) will eventually diminish their own purposes and will devour themselves!

I live in Florida and have lost about 35% of the value since I purchased. Which means I have negative equity.

This is interesting considering that BoA has been a RAT piggy-bank for years.

I have been notified that Suntrust is raising fees & because we can be grandfathered in we will not have any or smaller fees. Who knows when the banks have you over a barrel. I’m starting to use more cash now instead of credit cards or debit cards.

“Describing what Americans had done to prisoners in their control, you would most certainly believe this must have been done by Nazis, Soviets in their gulags, or some mad regime–Pol Pot or others–that had no concern for human beings. Sadly, that is not the case. This was the action of Americans in the treatment of their prisoners.” — Dick Durbin

Not much else to say about him.
