Boy am I glad the founders didn’t make their decisions to support this infant country and the revolution that preceeded it based on the emotions or desires of their children, or even whether or not the children would be put through hell.

The knew what the probably outcome would be, death for themselves, possibly their offspring and wives, and destruction of their fortunes, and yet they still pressed ahead.

I don’t think anyone should demand anything like this from anyone if they aren’t willing to take that step themselves.

What right does anyone have to demand that another live their lives for your desires?

This isn’t about any one person ‘from the government and here to help’.

So when I read someone say demand that someone take that leap, all I can think is...

You First.

Fine. Sacrifice your own life. Sacrifice your own family.

You can’t demand that from others. You can only give it for yourself. Or not.

How true. I try to imagine my dad making a career decision based on a family vote. Not. What a pathetic cop-out for Palin. If she’s that weak, then it’s better to know that now rather than two or three years from now.

I'm in total and heartfelt agreement. Country first. It's amazing to me how many people here say family first.

Nevertheless, what the Founding Fathers sacrificed so much for, what heroes then and since sacrificed all for, is freedom; and Sarah Palin is free to make a different choice, to put her family first, or her personal desires first. And who knows, perhaps she feels she would not have been the right person for the presidency. We do not know. It's her business and I respect her decision. For me, the case is closed.

Sarah is a mother, not a founder.

Ifyou think she is smart enough to be POTUS, why do you question her decision not to run?

It's her life!

The Founders didn't bother with what their children wanted or didn't want, when making their decisions about the nation. Their WIVES did that for them. ;o)

You are comparing the decision of a single person NOT to run for president to the sacrifice of colonists during the American Revolution? Unfortunately, I think you are serious. You ought to go out and study up on the Revolution if you think there is ANY comparison.
