One week after his dog, Shadow, was shot and killed by a retired state trooper at a park, a new German Shepherd donated by the Stevens-Swan Humane Society has helped Bernard Sperfeld cope with the tragic loss.
We will bond and she will be my new partner, so all my love and my big heart will go to her now, Sperfeld said of Heidi, who has already taken to cuddling up with Sperfeld just hours after the new dog was brought home Wednesday afternoon.
But Sperfeld still gets choked up as he recalls the fate of Shadow, who was shot three times by retired Trooper Anthony Randazzo at the Trenton Greenbelt trails shortly after 7 p.m. Aug. 24.

Is it open season on dogs by the cops nationwide? Is there a bag limit?
Hmmm, think there’s money selling dog silhouettes to police ranges?
There are some real pigs in the world.
It was quite a while ago, but some cop buddies used to refer to their own SWAT team as “The Puppy Killers” in a derogatory, ‘joking’ kind of way.
What joke?
I'm sure no one gets upset about that.
“Some folks like the idea of shooting dogs. Other folks like the idea of killing hogs. I imagine there are groups out there that call themselves “Pig Snuffers”.”
Feral Hogs are a huge problem in Texas, and many other states. They can’t be killed fast enough...
You get yourself a nice feral hog, train it, house break it, name it after an unfavorite relative, and walk it around your neighborhood and I will graciously not shoot it with my 30/30 and collect the bounty. Please hang a sign on the feral hog to properly identify it as yours.
If any cop, retired cop or anybody else pulls down on my dog they better be ready to catch some lead themselves.
their vests won’t do any good either.
You missed my point by taking my words at face value. I was trying to make a point about how the police are viewed by society when they go around killing family pets. Some citizens are getting tired of it.

I am glad to hear it. I could not see anything in the post to indicate it should not have been taken at face value which is not to say it was not there - only that I did not see it if it was.
I regret the misunderstanding.
Just how does the woman that he had the heated argument with fit into this whole mess? Isn’t anybody asking if the retired trooper and this female know each other?
